Mike Farrey
Women's Coach

B-CC Crew is very pleased to welcome Mike Farrey to his first season with the team. Mike was the head women’s coach at the University of Dayton from 2005 to 2007. New employment brought him to DC in 2007, and he spent his first two years here as an assistant coach at Thomas Jefferson HS. Mike completed his Masters in engineering at MIT in 2010, returning last year as a volunteer assistant with the Georgetown University women’s team. Mike was a collegiate rower at the University of Dayton where he received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2002. Mike was drawn to BCC by its strong tradition and looks forward to helping the team continue its success.

Hank McEntee
Coach, Novice Men
Hank enters his sixth year with B-CC Crew with the men's squad. This season, Hank is coaching the novice men's team and assisting with the varsity squads. In the five years that Hank coached the freshman, the crews advanced to the semis twice and once to the Stotesbury Regatta finals. For several summers, he has coached WeCanRow (a women's cancer survivor rowing program). Hank is certified as a U.S. Rowing Association Level III coach and is a member of Potomac Boat Club, where he competes with the masters program there. Over the years in sculling and sweep rowing, Hank medaled twice at the Head of the Charles and earning a gold at Master's Nationals. He rowed four years in the sweep program as an undergraduate at Georgetown University in the mid 1970s. Hank and his wife, Christine, have been married for 32 years and have two sons. He is a former chef in catering, hotels and restaurants around the D.C. area.

Megan Gordon
Assistant Coach
Megan returns to B-CC Crew this year for her fourth season as assistant coach for the women's squad. Megan graduated from The Ohio State University in 2006, where she rowed for four years. At Ohio State she received the "Golden Buckeye Award" as the most inspirational team-member. Her senior year, Megan was Academic All-Big Ten, a "Big Ten Sportsman of the Year Honoree," and earned a silver medal at the 2005 Big Ten Rowing Championships. Megan also chaired the committee for coach relations and was a liaison between student athletes and coaches on Ohio State's Student Athlete Advisory Board. Post graduation, Megan served as an assistant coach of the novice team and helped lead the Buckeyes to their second Big Ten Championship in school history. As assistant coach of the Barons, Megan co-coached the Women’s Varsity Squad, along with Chris Graves, to win the WMIRA Conference Championship and the Maryland State Championship >in 2009 and 2010.In 2011, she helped the Barons to a 2nd place finish at the Maryland State Championship and earn a spot into the semi-finals at the National Championship.In high school Megan rowed for the Annapolis Rowing Club. Megan is currently employed by GEICO as a product analyst and resides in Washington, DC.

Jessica Swartz
Assistant Coach

Jessica joined B-CC Crew during the 2009-2010 crew season as an assistant coach for the men’s squad. Jessica served as an assistant varsity coach for the Combined Cathedral Crews Rowing Club, Inc. in Washington, DC in 2006 and 2007. While coaching there, the girls second varsity eight earned fifth place at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta. Jessica graduated from Michigan State University where she rowed competitively. Jessica was a member of the JV Eight that won first place at the President’s Cup in Tampa, Florida, and also rowed in the JV Eight that placed fourth in the Central Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Jessica co-founded and coached the Creston High School Crew team in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1999. From 2000-2003, Jessica attended the American University Washington School of Law. She is now a practicing appellate attorney for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and lives with her husband in Washington, DC.

Jesse Burns
Assistant Coach
We are welcoming Jesse to his first season with B-CC. He arrives with strong recommendations from the head coaches he assisted over the last five years, first at Gonzaga, then Whitman, and most recently at St. Paul’s in Baltimore. He has coached a string of successful freshmen and varsity boats, winning two WMIRA and three Maryland State Championships. Jesse looks forward to helping his rowers improve through structure and discipline that will better prepare them for competition. Jesse is a 2006 graduate of St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia where he rowed as a lightweight all four years and gained a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. Jesse holds a Level II US Rowing coaching certificate.

Erin Carter
Assistant Coach

Erin Carter joins B-CC Crew for her first year of coaching after just graduating Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Erin captained the varsity women at Georgetown and earned All-Big East honors in 2011. In her final year of high school, she was a gold-medalist at the Head of the Charles. During her studies at Georgetown, Erin found time to mentor at-risk youth, teach HIV/AIDS awareness, and assist low-income workers and the homeless in accessing essential services. Erin is an outstanding leader and we look forward to her guidance of the novice women’s squad.
